Originality gets thrown right out of the window with this film. 'Upside Down' starring 'Kirsten Dunst' and 'Jim Sturgess' is a film like no other, with two people's worlds truly being upside down.
'Upside Down' sees two lovers, torn apart at childhood trying to reach one another. When a boy named Adam (Jim Sturgess) sees his childhood sweetheart, Eden (Kirsten Dunst) on the big screen, nothing will stop him from reaching her.
The premise of the story is two worlds have gotten so close to one another, that they are almost touching; instead of clouds and sky, they have a terrain of the adjacent world. Each planet has law enforcements declaring that there should be no contact made with the other planet; as the above planet has wealth and energy resources. Whereas, the below planet is dying out, they're losing their wealth and energy resources and are soon to become extinct. Though the concept of one planet being above and the other below is however, a confusing idea, as either could be above or below, depending on which planet you are on.
A war is breaking out between the two planets as Adam and Eden seek one another. As Adam makes it across to the other side, a mass hunt to find him has already begun, he has disobeyed all the rules therefore he must be killed. He truly would die for the love of his life.
The filming of 'Upside Down' is extremely clever; it's almost like two different films, that mirror one another. The whole CGI element to this film is very intriguing and exciting, and that in my opinion, can only lead to future success for what should be, a CGI masterpiece.
